SM training for Parish Councillors, Wardens and parish staff

The Safe Ministry to Children Ordinance 2020 outlines who is required to complete safe ministry training. This has always been identified as:

• clergy
• church workers (authorised, paid or voluntary)
• safe ministry personnel

However, from 31 December 2025, the ordinance requires people in the following roles to also ensure they have completed accredited Safe Ministry training:

• parish staff
• wardens
• parish councillors
• Evangelism and New Churches Fellowship committee members
• members of Standing Committee
